Grilled Romaine Lettuce

IMG_6381

This grilled romaine lettuce salad is an easy addition to add to the grill when grilling.  This is a go to recipe especially when our romaine lettuce heads are ready to be eaten.

Grilled Romaine Lettuce

2 heads of romaine lettuce – cut length wise (do not cut ends off)

olive oil

fresh lemon juice

salt & pepper

Prepare the romaine, by slicing it length wise.  Brush olive oil on both sides of the sliced heads.  Salt and pepper each side to taste.  Place romaine heads face down on grill for 3-4 minutes to cook and to get the pretty grill marks.  Flip over for 2 minutes on the other side.  Take off fire immediately, and plate.  Cut off the steams on each sliced head of romaine lettuce and discard.  Then squeeze fresh lemon juice on top of the grilled romaine lettuce heads.

No need for salad dressing, as the lemon becomes your dressing.  I enjoy this salad plain, but you can add toppings such as blue cheese, parmesan cheese, carrots or any salad toppings you love!

Enjoy!
