bootcut vs. the skinny

Hi friends!

Our weather has finally started to warm up a little, but it’s still sweater weather for sure!  I can’t believe January is well on its way to being over and we are closer to our spring break and the kids will have a week off of school?   We are thinking about taking a trip this year, but haven’t quite decided.  #lastminuteplanners

My husband is very involved in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo which will kick off pretty soon, so that is always fun for our kids.

I am really excited about this blog post because I haven’t bought a pair of bootcut jeans in years!  I have noticed they are coming back and can be so flattering if styled just right. Ok, I know I’ve got my 100% skinny jean girls out there, so stay with me, because today I am bringing you two looks with one of my favorite new button up shirts that comes in 5 prints.

So, if you are wanting to update your bootcut jean collection or just try a pair then this next look is for you!

These KUT bootcut jeans went on sale, and I thought why not!  I did order one size down from my usual size because they are VERY stretchy!  I love the dark wash that can be dressed up for an evening look or a casual day at the office.  I absolutely love the way bootcut jeans elongate your legs especially with a pair of high heels.  If you aren’t a high heel girl then booties work just as well!  These jeans are very comfortable and the length of them is perfect. (I am 5’6 for reference) They also have some similar options in this brand of jeans as well.  Click here for KUT Curvy Fit | Stretch Fit  Another similar pair that I ordered and really like…..(coming soon) are these.

I also like how the darker wash of the jeans has a classy look.  Like I said, a great causal Friday look or for my teacher friends when it’s a jeans day! 🙂

shop the look: jeansshirt | belt (old LOFT) | necklace | nude heels

I must say a few things about this shirt.  It is called The Perfect Shirt for so many reasons!  A button up shirt is a good closet staple and can be so versatile.  This shirt is perfect for the office,  great for layering under sweaters and would look super cute dressed down with distressed jeans or a pair of denim shorts.  This shirt is on my summer wish list and I had to snag it early since it also is a great transition to spring shirt.  Click here to see my full spring & summer wishlist.  There are so many great things I’ve got my eye on for the warmer weather.

I love the light weight, breezy material of this shirt.  It isn’t too structured or stiff.  The length is great too if you want to tuck it in, make a front tuck or leave it hanging out.  This shirt comes in 5 prints including a super cute PINK gingham!   I also ordered the red stripe. (trying to branch out from my traditional go to colors) 😉

Now, if you have stayed with me this next look is still with my favorite new button up shirt just with these super flattering, stretchy skinny jeans!  These jeans have been on serious repeat for me and since they are budget friendly, I am getting my money’s worth for sure!

If you follow me on Instagram then you have seen me talk about these jeans.  They have a great stretch to them and if you are more modest on your distressing this is a great pair to try.  For reference, I did go down one size because they are very stretchy.  Going down one size was key to making these fit perfect for me, but try two different sizes so you can find the right fit for you!  I also wore these jeans here in this blog post.

I paired these jeans with my go to nude booties, that are still available in some sizes and also come in black.  They are super comfy too.  If your size is sold out click here and here for similar options I found for you.  If you want to spend a little less, these are a comfortable brand that I love.  I love nude booties because you can bring them into spring and summer and not miss a beat.  The tan color goes with just about ANYTHING which makes these booties a great closet staple.  Now that they are under $60 it was definitely a win for me!

Skinny jeans can be so versatile.  I love pairing them with booties, mules or flats, but you can also tuck them into your riding boots.  For a dressier look, pairing them with your favorite heels also looks great.  These are another pair of skinny jeans that I have worn so much this season and love.

Which look is your favorite?  I always love a good skinny jean, but to change things up for a date night or if you have a casual day at the office these bootcut jeans are perfect!

I hope this post has given you a little outfit inspiration my friends!  Happy Friday Eve & don’t forget to come back on Saturday for my round up post where I will be chatting about the week all in one post and talking about any sales or finds that I have found.  I also will be sharing my shrimp zoodles recipe very soon!

XO, Ja’Net
