5 Ways To Style The Boardwalk Skirt

Hey friends,

Summer is in full swing here and we are getting ready for the 4th of July!  What fun plans do you have?  We are still deciding on ours, but thinking we may hit the beach for a few days!

I recently did a try on session at J.Crew Factory and picked up this scalloped pink skirt.  Click here for the blog post and all I tried on.  It comes in several colors, and is extremely versatile.  I was excited to style it during my try on session.  One in a basic graphic tee and secondly in a dressier off the shoulder top.

After bringing this skirt home I wanted to style it as many ways as possible to give y’all some outfit inspiration.  In this post you will find I styled the famous boardwalk skirt 5 different ways!  From casual, to work attire to date night!

#1 Button Up Shirt

First up, if you know me then you know I have a thing for stripes.  I may own too many!  So, when I bought this skirt I had stripes in mind! 😉  This blousy top was an instant winner.  I love the boxy fit and did a front tuck into this pink skirt for a date night look!  This look could easily be cleaned up for an office look.  I would switch out my wedges for a pair of heels like this pair or these.  You could tuck the stripe top in and add a blazer or cardigan depending on your work dress code.

You could also pair this top with white denim shorts or jeans and it would look great!  I love how the stripe button up can give this skirt a dressy look with all the right accessories.

Another stripe top that I have and wear a lot is this one.  If you saw my Instagram stories video, I styled this top tucked in, and also untucked with a tie front.  To achieve this tie on a shirt that is not necessarily a tie front top, all you have to do is leave the last button unbuttoned and tie your knot there.  Easy right!  This is the same look, but giving you a more casual feel with a pair of flats and a front tie on the stripe top.  Which do you like best?

#2 Basic Tee

Next, I dressed up a basic white tee that we all have in our closet.  If you don’t I have been pretty pleased with this one I am wearing!  They run pretty true to size and I can wear a small or medium depending on what type of fit I want.  I actually own this white one in both sizes! 😉  Tucking this tee in with a pair of statement earrings and heels makes it a date night worthy look!  I also loved adding the pop of turquoise in these earrings for an unexpected color.

You could also leave the tee untucked with a side knot and flats for a more casual look.  Either way this skirt can be styled with a tee for a casual or dressy look.  You could also add a blazer or a denim jacket to take this look up a notch!

#3 Tank

Third is this fitted navy and white stripe tank!  I bought this tank specifically for this skirt.  HELLO stripes!  I love how this fitted tank can be tucked in for another dressy look.  This tank is also a great casual piece for summer.  You can play around with your heels and wedges for the perfect look.  For reference, I am wearing a small in this tank.

#4 Cami/Spaghetti Strap Tops

Next up, one of my newest tanks from Target that I wore to the movies with white denim last week.  I wanted to try something mustard since my closet has ZERO yellow in it.  I loved pairing this pink with the unexpected mustard color!  Wait until you see the back of this tank!  It comes in several colors and fits TTS. It is thin and so cool for summer.  I am wearing a small in this tank for reference.

Dressing up this skirt again with a black cami for a night out!  I threw on black heels to take it up a notch, but it can also be styled with your favorite wedges if heels aren’t your thing.  Since I am always cold everywhere I go, this denim jacket has been a staple in my closet all season.

#5 Off The Shoulder Blouse

Lastly,  I loved the dressy feel the skirt gave when I tucked in a blousy off the should top.  This top is from Rue Bird Market, a local boutique in Katy, TX.   At first I thought it wasn’t going to work, but I played around with the tucked in part and raised the skirt up a little higher and it was perfect.  Another look achieved!  This skirt has so many versatile options, and most of them are in your closet already!  I have found some off the shoulder tops that I think would look great with this skirt!
