Happy Thursday friends,
I hope everyone’s week is going great! Today is like a Friday for us since my boys have off tomorrow for Good Friday. Can NOT believe Easter is this weekend!
I posted on my Instagram stories the other day asking for favorite stores that you would like to see a try-on session from. I have started making my list of your requests and will work my way around town as fast as I can. If you have a favorite store, shoot me a message and I can do my best to add it to my list of try-ons.
First up, I stopped at J. Crew Factory after browsing online to see what they had in store. Of course, TONS of cute options and they are all on sale today. They had a lot of cute shorts for summer, great basic tees and fun spring dresses!

This blog post is filled with everything I tried on today at J.Crew Factory. I included my opinion on the fit, what size I am wearing and styling ideas. For reference, I am 5’6 and usually wear a 2-4, small-medium in most brands.
SHORTS and TEES
First up, I wanted to try the scalloped shorts that are new this year. They come in a variety of colors and I would say they are TTS. I tried a size 2, but thinking a size 4 would have given me more thigh room. ( I don’t like shorts tight on my thighs) 🙂 The solid colors are black, green, red and white and then their are a few printed options like the gingham pair on the left. HOW CUTE! If you like gingham these are totally worth it. They are so fun for the summer paired with a basic tee or dress it up with a ruffle top like the one I am wearing. The gingham pair are on sale for $23 right now and the solid colors are $20! Such a steal!
This ruffle top was TTS, as I am wearing a small. The white was not see through and was a great fit. This top also comes in three other colors. I would vote YES for this white ruffle top. I also loved all the other colors but they were sold out of my size. Such a cute summer top and on sale for $17!
On another note, these white shorts are a BIG NO! They are totally see through. You can sort of tell in the photo, but don’t waist your time ordering them, they are completely see through. You can tell I didn’t even attempt to straighten my shirt, just wanted to show y’all that I would not recommend the white shorts because of the material being so thin.
All the other colors were perfect and a great fit. If you are looking for a white pair of shorts, LOFT has a similar pair that are not see through. Click here for those.
Next up, are these high waisted denim shorts that have a little ruffle detail on the pockets and waist. They are high-waisted and come up to my belly button. I liked the length on these, but did feel like the crotch was long for my body type. I wish they had fit me better. The shorts were really cute and do come in navy, yellow and a stripe. They are on sale for $23. I also am curious now that I think about it if the crotch area would have fit better if I would have sized down one size. Unfortunately they didn’t have any smaller sizes to try, but something to think about if you are ordering these.
This stripe tee is also a good basic staple! I love the soft fabric and flattering feel of these tees. I tried on a small in this picture, but ended up taking home a medium for a little more room. This tee was under $15 and comes in navy stripe and a ton of solid colors.
Ok, these little pom pom shorts were one of the reasons I came into the store. They are $16 online and so cute!! I love the pom pom detail and the drawstring waist. They have a good length and obsessed with the pockets. For reference, I tried the XS and S and could have gone either way. If you prefer more room in the legs, go with your normal size on these.
I am loving the drawstring shorts! I think they were my favorite fit out of all the ones I tried. This is the denim pair, and I am wearing the XS. I paired these shorts with a light sweater for chilly spring evenings. I love their thin sweaters for spring time. They are great for throwing on with jeans or as the weather warms up, pair them with shorts. This navy pineapple sweater was my favorite, but they also had a cute flamingo sweater. For reference, I am wearing a size small in this sweater.
Basic tees are always great to stock up on when they are on sale. I have always loved J.Crew Factory tees, for many reasons. #1 They are longer in length than some other brands. #2 They come in a variety of colors. #3 The V neck is not too low even for those that worry about the “V”. They also fit TTS. For reference, I am wearing a small. If I was bustier, I would go with a medium for a looser fit as I feel like their tees run narrow.
These denim shorts are from last season, but they come back every year. I like the higher waist, but do recommend sizing down in their denim shorts. These are on sale right now for under $30.
Another shot of this basic V neck tee in white. It is not see through at all! This one came home with me today as I always can use another white tee and it was under $10. 🙂
These 3 inch black boardwalk pull on shorts are another option if you don’t like the scallop or pom pom pair. They have an elastic waist, pockets and fit TTS. These shorts also come in a bright blue color that is so pretty for the summer. I have had this pair since last year, and I love the elastic waist for a comfy fit.
These cute sandals I have had since last year and they are back! I own them in gold too. When you love something why not get all colors! They are my go to slip on pair that really go with anything. I love wearing them with shorts, jeans and even dresses and skirts. They also come in black, gold, and a lighter tan. I sized up a 1/2 size since they don’t come in half sizes and they fit perfect. They are also on sale for $20! Click here to grab yours!
They don’t have swim suits in store, so wanted to see what summer accessories I could find. This cute little hat came home with me today! It is the perfect neutral hat for the beach, pool and isn’t too floppy over my face. What made it even better is it is $17!
This swimsuit cover up was super cute too! I saw it on the way out of the store and snapped a quick picture of it. It also comes in a light blue as well. The pom pom detail was so cute!
I thought this green dress was a perfect option for spring. It could be very versatile and worn to the office, church or just for a pretty spring day. I loved the V neck and it does the same V in the back. This dress also has a zipper up the back. I do wish it had pockets, 😉 but still thought it was super cute! For reference I am wearing a size 4. This dress also comes in navy.
Another cute dress that I tried on was this black and white thin stripe dress. I thought the bell sleeve detail was cute and I liked that it wasn’t a completely long sleeve dress. The 3/4 sleeve is perfect so your “bell” doesn’t drag or get in the way. This dress would also be a great option to wear to work. For reference, I tried on a small. Click here for the navy option in this dress.
Ok, I wanted this one to come home with me, but had to fight the urge to buy it all. ;). I loved this dress. This light weight dress is perfect for spring and summer. It also comes in pink, white and a blue stripe. For reference, I tried on a size 2 and it fit perfectly. I could have possibly worn a 4 as well. Shop this dress here or click here for the stripe version.
Ok, I know what you are saying how much blue and white stripes do you own!?!? Haha! If a store has it, you know I must try it on. I loved this linen stripe dress. This dress was a favorite for sure. It will be a great dress to throw on this summer on those hot days! For reference, I am wearing a small.
SKIRTS & MORE TOPS
Another fun option that I love for spring and summer are these elastic waist skirts. They are so comfortable and the best part is pockets!! I love the scallop detail on this one too. These skirts come in a ton of colors as well. For reference, I tried on a size 2 in this skirt. I love these skirts because you can pair them with a basic tee or tank top for the summer and just add your flip flops. You can also dress this skirt up for the office with tights and a more structured top or sweater. I wore this skirt this fall and tucked in my sweater for a more put together look.
This gingham short sleeve top came home with me. This thin button up top will be great for hot summer days. It also comes in a few other plaids, but if you know me then navy it is! 🙂
Another great staple item that you can never have enough of is a good denim shirt. I love pairing denim shirts with white jeans, shorts and even skirts. They are so versatile and look great with so many things.
This isn’t the best of pictures, but I loved this denim skirt. It hit me above the knee, so wasn’t too short or long. This skirt also had stretch to it, so it was comfortable to move around in. The raw hem and zig zag seam gave it some fun detail. It would be cute with a tee or something like this ruffle top I paired it with. Throw on some wedges and you are set. Click here for the skirt. For reference, I tried on size 2 and loved the fit.
Another look a this top with denim shorts. It can be styled so many different ways. I would also pair it with white denim jeans or you could even wear this top with a skirt or slacks to the office.
This was something I always did when I was a teacher. My work clothes usually could double up as my day to day clothes. When shopping for new pieces you want to make sure you have a lot of options on how to style them, so you get your monies worth!
Oldie but goodie!
This gingham top has been in my closet for over 4 years! It is my go to top for spring and I can’t help but love the navy. The fit is super slimming and runs TTS. This shirt keeps coming back every year, so you know it is a good one. Shop this navy top by clicking here.
