Hi friends,
Fall is most definitely one of my favorite seasons, but I do wish from time to time I lived in a city where the leaves stayed golden yellow, orange and brown for months. The chilly air came and stayed without rain and I could wear sweaters and scarves for more than an hour before the sun heated things up. A girl can dream right! 😉
One thing I do love about fall is all the plaid trend. Plaid is a fun print that comes in all colors and can be styled multiple ways. I love layering plaid into my wardrobe and knew when I saw this one at Target, it would be perfect for fall! Plus it’s under $20!
This blog post is filled with simple and basic ways to style your favorite plaid shirt. This shirt has a mix of cream, browns, and a small stripe of blush! The perfect fall tones.
For reference, this shirt fits TTS. I am wearing a small and have plenty of room. You could size down for a more fitted look. Sizes available XXS-XXL.

STYLING YOUR PLAID

I love that plaid shirts can be very casual. I styled the first look above with my favorite pair of high-waisted distress jeans that I have had a few years now. I would recommend sizing down one size, they do have some stretch to them or try both sizes to compare.
What is great about these jeans is they come in a curvy option too! They also are available in petite and tall. There is a size for everyone. If you don’t like the distressing, click here for the non distressed pair.
If you still haven’t tried the mule trend it is still going strong. These blush mules were one of my first pair last season and they are back again this year. They fit TTS and are also available in black.
Changing up your shoes and adding layers can mix up the entire look! I changed out my flats for these nude heeled mules and added a blush denim jacket for more color.

Plaid shirts don’t have to be causal. Plaid can be dressed up with a skirt too. I am loving this A-Line faux suede skirt. It fits TTS and would be so cute with tights during the colder months. If you want the skirt to fit lower (below your natural waist line) I recommend sizing up one.

Again, mix up your outfit by changing out your shoes. I threw on a pair of black booties instead of the heels and a denim jacket like this one, would also look cute with this look.
I also added a touch more blush with my leather earrings from McFather Designs to bring out the blush in my plaid shirt.

Lastly, I was excited to try out this new brand of jeans, from Target. They are high-waisted, stretchy and I would say run one size bigger than other jeans. I sized down one size in these and I still have a little room.
Black jeans are a great staple item for fall. I have been on the hunt for an inexpensive pair of distressed black jeans. When I saw that these were $20, I had to give them a try.

Taking this outfit up a notch by adding these statement earrings and my favorite bangles from RueBird Market!
So now, dust off your plaid tops and see what you can create! I love adding new plaid tops to my wardrobe, but also love creating new outfits with ones I have. I found some really good plaid tops in all different price ranges if you are looking to add one to your wardrobe this year. 🙂
Do you wear a lot of plaid in the cooler months? Which look was your fave? Which one do you think you can recreate?
Thank you so much for being a part of Running On Clean Blog and reading my post.
