MY FAVORITE HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE PROTEIN SHAKE

Hey there,

Are you a creature of habit and get stuck on a food and won’t stop making it? Well, insert this smoothie/shake I have gotten hooked on. I CANNOT take credit for this deliciousness of a shake. My friend and neighbor, Jacci from Jacci Hotzel Health shared this goodness on her Instagram feed along with so many other yummy things and I knew I had to try it.

I am usually in a big rush in the mornings. I am rushing out the door to get kids off the school or heading to the gym to make a morning workout class. Sometimes I skip breakfast and just drink my black coffee with my collagen peptides, but mornings when I do want to make something, or even when I want an easy lunch this shake has become my newest favorite. The best part…..I am FULL for hours!

CHOCOLATE CHERRY (FULL FOR 5) SHAKE

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein
  • 1 1/2 cup base liquid -I use almond milk
  • one handful of fresh spinach (or use frozen)
  • 12-15 frozen organic cherries
  • 1 tbsp. COCAO powder
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp. BULLETPROOF brain octane oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp. COCAO nibs (optional) **adds a little crunch
  • 4-5 cubes of ICE

DIRECTIONS

Place all items in a blender. I like to use my Ninja, but any high powered blender is fine.

Enjoy. 🙂

*note if ever too thick, I always add a tad of water to the mixture.

**If you don’t like texture, don’t add nibs. They taste like bits of chocolate to me. 🙂

Now, I know what you might be thinking…..CHERRIES?!?! WHAT!? First off, you can’t taste them in this shake. (only chocolate) Second, I haven’t eaten a cherry in years unless I grab a fresh bag from the grocery store, and that isn’t very often. So, I would say, if you are hesitate to add cherries, just google the benefits of cherries in your diet. 🙂

Even my little guy, or should I say Spider Man loves it!

Do you have any favorite shake recipes you love? I am always on the look out for new ones to try! Thank you for reading about what I love and visiting ROC Blog.

XO, Ja’Net
