HOW TO THROW A FAVORITE THINGS PARTY:
First up, if you are new to favorite things, this is a fun party to kick off the holidays with your girlfriends. The rules are your own, so make them fit to your liking. What we did: everyone brought 2 of the SAME gift wrapped with a $25 price tag. The previous year it was 5 of the SAME gifts at $10 a piece. So, it is totally up to you!
Upon arrival to the party, each pair of gifts are given a number. The hostess then has the total number of gifts numbered out and placed in a bowl. (ours was doubled since we had two gifts each)
Example: We had 41 people, so there were 41 gifts x 2. Everyone “signed in” on a numbered line when they arrived, and this labeled your GIFT number. In a bowl there were the numbers 1-41 (TWICE…since we had two gifts each). Everyone then would draw two numbers out of the bowl. Each person will have two different numbers. Then when it is time to exchange, the gift #1 person would pass out her two gifts to the two people that drew a number 1 out of the bowl. You do this until all gifts are passed out. It is also fun to explain what your gift is and why it’s a favorite. This way everyone can see what all the gifts are! 🙂
