HELLO and happy mid-week my friends. We are in limbo it seems with January weather and fashion. When all we really want to wear are sweat pants and slippers…..am I right? 😉 The style must carry on in prep for warmer spring days! On another note, several have already subscribed to my new email system ~ if you are getting my new formatted email and newsletter than you are set. If not, you can subscribe here and be the first to receive my newsletters, blog post information, sales and deals! 🙂
As a woman in my 40’s and a blogger, finding practical yet stylish fashion is always a priority. I love to be comfortable but still look put together all while sticking to a budget. That’s why I thought it would be fun to start a new segment here on the blog. I love breaking down fashion, trends and what we should invest in and save on. So this week I am diving into statement blouses, white sneakers, and crop denim!

- Statement tops have been trending for awhile now and seems to be back this year in full force! I love adding a statement blouse to an outfit even if it’s just something casual. The details add a touch of sass to make the outfit. 😉 If you haven’t tried a ruffle or puff sleeve blouse ~ a few tips to help style this type of top. 1. Put the “puff” or “ruffle” where you don’t mind the extra material. For example, if you don’t want the ruffle across your chest ~ look for a blouse that has only sleeve details or vis versa. 2. Choose your ruffle size…it doesn’t have to be big! There are lots of small ruffles tops out there. 3. I tend to tuck in or front tuck a statement blouse to draw me in at the waist. 4. Wear it, own it ~ you look fabulous in it.
- Crop denim has to be my favorite thing since the skinny. I feel like you can style a pair of crop jeans so many ways and wear them just about in any season of the year. I love these crop kick flare so much I now own 3 pair. They come in regular and curvy fit which can be so helpful if you need more hip room in your denim ~ try the curvy. Fit tip: This pair fits true to size and they DO NOT stretch out. They are not distressed, so would be great for the causal workday and my teacher friends. The sky is the limit with crop denim. Grab a pair and mix and match them with all your shoes in your closet. If you don’t quite want a flare ~ check these straight leg out –fit: TTS
- Statement shoe – Whether you want a statement heel or statement comfort, you can find affordable options here. It took me awhile to try the clog trend, but I think it is a fun style I will be dipping my toe or should I say foot for spring. I love the braided detail on this affordable pair and the memory foam sole is comfortable too. Fit tip: I would recommend your true size. Now, if you are needing more of a statement heel, but again they have to be comfortable these blush heels hit the nail on the head. They are the perfect light shade of blush and they straps have extra cushion, so you don’t have to worry about rubbing on the top of your foot. Fit tip: I recommend your true size
Statement mule – Needing a flat option or something that works well for the work place ~I love the adorable bows on top of these mule style shoe. These have a very comfortable fit to them and the sizing is true to size. (comes in 2 other color combos)

- White sneakers are another style that is easy to mix into your wardrobe. You can easily splurge or save on a pair depending how often you might be wearing them. I love how they look with crop jeans, leggings and spring dresses. This pair are my latest favorite splurge worthy pair, but if you prefer to save~ try these! Fit tip: (splurge pair – if in between size down to next full size) (save pair – tts)
