Work Wear Wednesday | stovepipe pants + peplum top

Hi friends,

As most of you know I use to be an elementary school teacher before I had babies.  I loved teaching, and miss it from time to time.  If I were still teaching this outfit would be on repeat, but I am also loving it for the office, church and lunch with the ladies.

This blog post is all about an easy casual outfit that can be dressed up or down for the work place.  I would like to think if I were heading to the office, or a business lunch or even an night out with friends I could easily throw this outfit on and go!

Putting together an outfit for work can be easy when you are using basic pieces that can be used multiple ways!  I always try to shop for pieces that can be worn with multiple looks.  This outfit is made up of so many great staple pieces.  Some splurges and some steals!

denim jacket  I know teaching I would get cold sometimes in our classroom, so it was always nice to have a jacket handy.   Having an easy jacket to throw on but still look stylish is so easy with a denim jacket like this.  This one is new this season, and it was time to replace mine that was probably 10 years old.  This one is a perfect color with a tiny bit of distressing, so it will still look professional adding it to your office outfit.  I also am loving this camo jacket too, if you want to get a little edgy with your work wear!

black pants I found these “stovepipe” black pants while doing some online shopping and thought why not!  I am so glad I ordered them.  They are such a reasonable price and the pants are so pretty in person.  I love how they hit at the ankle, so they will look great with flats too!  They have pockets in the front and back which are a must for me.  These pants are high-waisted and would look great with sweaters, cardigans and so much more.  For reference, I sized up in this pant.  They do have some stretch and will stretch with wear.

peplum top  Y’all have seen me love on the peplum trend, well I found this top for under $15 and thought the color was gorgeous.  It also comes in black which would be another great staple to add to your work wear, especially for layering under cardigans and jackets.  This top is short sleeve, so will be great for spring and summer paired with denim jeans and shorts!  I am also thinking how cute it would look with a pair of white distressed jeans like these.  If you are wanting to try the peplum trend, this top is inexpensive and one to try.  I also love this long sleeve peplum that I use a lot for layering and would also be perfect with these pants.  For reference, I sized down in this top, wearing an XS.

leopard Adding a little leopard to an ordinary outfit can dress it up instantly.  I scored these pumps on sale at Nordstrom Rack while doing some online shopping.  I am so glad I did because they are super comfy and not too high.  Sizes are limited so hurry if you are interested!  I also really am liking these.  The heel is perfect and would look great in the office or with jeans!  I also love a good flat for work too.  These leopard flats are on repeat in my wardrobe and usually go on sale all the time.  They are such a great staple.

statement earring  I do love wearing studs from time to time, but another great way to dress up any outfit is to throw on a fun pair of statement earrings in any color!  These have been a favorite for me this past month!  And they come in red too. 🙂  Thinking Valentines…….1:31 workwear post31:31 workwear post71:31 workwear post2

What pieces do you love to wear to the office?  It is funny when you are working you look forward to casual Friday but when you are a stay at home momma, you look forward to the day to dress up!

I hope this post has given you another outfit to rotate into your workwear or some new ideas!  Until next “Work Wear Wednesday”  friends. 🙂
