RODEO READY | WESTERN OUTFIT IDEAS

Hi friends,

February in Texas in always a mix of freezing weather and 80 degree temps the next! So we never know what to wear here and can’t pack away our winter clothes just yet. If you are from Houston, then you know the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a major event that kicked off this month and lasts for 3 weeks!

I have been getting several requests for some rodeo inspired looks, so I hope this blog post will help those of you that are doing some outfit planning and attending the HLSR this year or any western event for that matter!

Denim Jackets make great layering pieces for any season. I love throwing mine on for rodeo when the weather is chilly.

DENIM JACKET

First up, a denim jacket is a great staple to have for this evening. It is great for layering and you never know what the weather is going to be like. I’ve had my denim jacket for a few years and it keeps coming back in stock. Make sure to wait for a sale though, don’t pay full price. You can usually score it during their 40% off sale. I also found a few more jackets from different retailers with different price points.

CHAMBRAY

Chambray is also easy to style and a great closet staple. I love a good chambray dress that I can rotate in and wear year to year to the rodeo. One of my favorite brands, always has a few pretty options to choose from and the chambray is extremely soft! I also rounded up a few dresses and chambray tops that would be perfect for the rodeo, but also great closet staples that can be worn for any occasion. I also love this button down denim dress!

A chambray dress is another spring staple that can be easily styled for a rodeo event.

SUEDE

Suede is also another great option for the rodeo. I bought a faux suede dress last year, and love that I can mix it up for the rodeo. My dress is no longer available, but I have found a few similar options at different price points. Click through the widget below.

LACE / EMBROIDERED TOPS

Lace and embroidered tops is something most people have in their closet and can easily be styled for a western event. Throw on some fun turquoise jewelry and a pair of denim jeans and you are set. I rounded up a few inexpensive tops below!

shop this look: lace cami (several colors available) | leather earrings (use code: runningonclean15 for 15% off) | link bracelet | wrap bracelet

GRAPHIC TEES

I love casual rodeo looks too! If you are a denim jeans and boots girl, you can always find a good graphic tee with a western theme. Check out the ones I found below.

BOOTS / BOOTIES

I love that “western” inspired booties have been on trend because you can wear them year round and also style them for the rodeo. I rounded up a few favorite boots and booties that have a western feel!

shop the look: dark wash jeans | navy gingham shirt | black gingham shirt | earrings (use code: runningonclean15 for 15% OFF) | similar Ariat boots

ACCESSORIES

Lastly, adding some fun jewelry to your look can make the outfit! It can even take a regular look and make it “rodeo” ready! I love adding statement necklaces and fun turquoise pieces. Again, you can invest in these pieces or shop some of the dupes I have found below!

Who else loves rodeo inspired pieces? I love that western items are trending and so fun to mix in with your daily wardrobe. Who has a big rodeo in their city? We love the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. My husband has been volunteering for years and our boys love to attend too.

If you are on the hunt for that perfect outfit I hope this blog post has given you some outfit inspiration.
