Thursday Work Wear: Gray Dress Styled Multiple Ways

Happy Thursday friends!

September is here and I thought a little Fall work wear would be fun this week! I picked up this dress when I was working on my teacher inspired looks blog post.  Click here for that blog post and try-on details.

This dress is stretchy, comfortable and the perfect dress for the office.  I love the band around the upper waist that gives a cinched waist look and the small line down the center for added detail.  Plus this dress has pockets!   With hot weather here in Texas having a sleeveless option is great for chilly mornings, and hot afternoons.  This dress is perfect for dressing up with heels and a blazer, or dress it down with flats and a cardigan.

For reference, I am wearing a medium in this dress.  I did try on the small in the dressing room for comparison. (see teacher blog post for fit of small). The small was more of a fitted look.

I love neutrals and when I saw this olive green bag from Target, I new it would be a perfect neutral bag to bring into fall.  It also can be the statement color in an outfit like I styled it here.  This bag is another back pack style handbag that can be adjusted to fit your shoulders and allow your hands to be free!  Or the large arm strap makes it an easy hand bag as well.

This bag has plenty of room for all my mom things, but dressy enough where I don’t feel like I am carrying a big diaper bag.  The extra compartments and pocket on the inside helps me stay organized and gives me a place for my smaller items like my lipstick, keys and phone.  It also has a luxury feel to the suede style flap and soft faux leather bottom.

Also, check out my other go to backpack by clicking here. (comes in gray and black)

Shop the look: Target: gray dress | Amazon: nude mules | Target: olive green bag | DIFF: sunglasses |RueBird Market earrings and bangles

If you caught my August Favorites Blog Post, I mentioned these mules I scored on Amazon for $25.  The picture online doesn’t do these justice……I promise!  I ordered them on a whim and the price was just icing on the cake.  I was pleasantly surprised when I received them in the mail.  They fit TTS and are very comfortable.  I walked in them all day last week, and yay for no blisters.  They also come in several colors and the vegan fabric is super soft and flexible.

These mules are perfect for the office, but also great for dressing up with jeans.  I styled them with jeans and a plaid top on my recent Instagram post.  If you are looking for a nude mule that isn’t too high, I highly recommend giving these a shot.  For $25 + free shipping it’s a win win!

My earrings and bangles are from a local boutique here in Katy. You can directly message RueBird Market. These bangles are sold separately and you can pick from multi stone colors.

ADDING LAYERS

Shop the look: Target: gray dress | Amazon: nude mules | Target: olive green bag |Old Navy: cardigan  DIFF: sunglasses |RueBird Market earrings and bangles

This dress doesn’t have to stay sleeveless!  Especially in the office or as our chilly months slowly arrive.  I styled it with one of my light weight cream cardigans that I scooped up last month!  This cardigan has the cutest fridge detail at the bottom and comes in navy as well.  For reference, I am wearing a medium in this cardigan.

Lastly, I wanted to change things up a bit and show you a dress doesn’t always have to be a dress!  You can style a dress to make it appear as a skirt and get a whole new look out it!  I paired this dress with a classic blue and white button up and just tied it in a loose knot at the bottom. Shop the look: Target: gray dress |Target: stripe button up shirtAmazon: nude mules | Target: olive green bag | DIFF: sunglasses |RueBird Market earrings and bangles

MORE Layering Options

Shop the look: Target: gray dress | Amazon: nude mules | J.Crew Factory: sweater blazer

This sweater blazer has been my favorite since last fall and it is back in several colors!  This blazer can pull together an outfit without the structured feel of a regular blazer.  You get the blazer look but the cozy comfort of a cardigan.

Shop the look: Target: gray dress | Amazon: nude mules | Old Navy: blush denim jacket

Also, love throwing on a denim jacket over a dress for a causal look.  I wanted to take it up a notch and when I saw this blush denim jacket with pockets I couldn’t wait to style it!  For reference, I am wearing a small in the jacket.

Shop the look: Target: gray dress | J.Crew Factory leopard flats| H&M sweater similar

Lastly, I threw on one of my comfy sweaters over the top for another totally different look!  This black stripe is from last season, but I have linked a few stripe sweaters that look just as cozy! 🙂

This dress was a lot of fun to style!  I hope this blog post has given you some creative ways to style any dresses you may have in your closet.  Or if you are in need of a new dress for any occasion or the office, this gray shift dress is a great option!  It also comes in black too!
